Beef varattiyathu (aka Beef Roast)

INGREDIENTS

  • Beef 500 Grams
  • Onion 2 Nos(Big)
  • Ginger 1 Teaspoons(Crushed)
  • Garlic 1 Teaspoons(crushed)
  • Toamato 1 Nos(Big)
  • Curryleaves 2 sprigs
  • Green Chillies 2 sprigs
  • Fennel Seeds 1 Teaspoons
  • Fenu greek 1/4 Teaspoons
  • Turmeric Powder 1/4 Teaspoons
  • Coriander Powder 3 Teaspoons
  • Chilly Powder 1/2 Teaspoons
  • Meat Masala 2 Teaspoons
  • Garam Masala Powder 1/2 Teaspoons
  • Coconut Oil 1/2 Cups
  • Salt some To Taste
  • Coriander Leaves some to garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Cut beef into small pieces.
  • Boil half glass of water in cooker and add beef, salt and a pinch each of turmeric and garam masala powders and mix well.
  • Cook under the lid for 4 to 5 whistles. Beef cooking time may very based on the meat quality. Do not over cook the meat
  • Heat 2 tbsp of coconut oil in a kadai or a pan.
  • Add fenugreek seeds and then sliced onion.
  • Add salt, cover and let simmer.
  • Add chopped tomato. Let simmer, till the oil is separated.
  • Add all the powders and fennels
  • Saute, till it emits the aroma of getting roasted.
  • Add the beef pieces to this masala. :- Keep the stock. You may need it.
  • Mix the meat and masala well.
  • Add a bit stock, if the masala is too dry to be mixed.
  • Add 2 more tbsp of oil and saute.The longer you fry it,tastier it will be.
  • Garnish this with cilantro and tomato.
